One soggy day in March, this website was created by concerned consumers who couldn't stop wondering why more people aren't watchdogging and criticizing the activities of the giant online search behemoth that is Google, Inc.
The objective of this site to help people who have decided they want to live a Google-free life online. That may sound funny, but it's actually a pretty serious decision. Google is so dominant and so omnipresent that purposely avoiding it can actually be a very difficult task. And finding alternatives to Google products with the same featureset that Google offers is sometimes difficult. However, it's a challenge this site has willingly embraced. The front page of LGB contains dozens of links to other companies and services that compete with Google in almost every product category. Many of these alternatives are actually better than what Google offers, and not just in the privacy department.
Besides providing a directory of alternatives, LGB will also keep an occasional eye on Google, posting additional articles of interest and must read posts from other Google critics here on this blog. LGB will also aim to add more tutorials for users who want to block/screen out Google and keep its grubby virtual hands off of their desktops, laptops, netbooks, and phones.
